The U11A team travelled to Bryanston on Wednesday for the Bryanston annual U11 Hockey tournament on a cold and frosty day, but the girls were in great spirits and no pathetic fallacy was evident at all. The day started with a lucky first match against Clayesmore, where a 1-0 result saw the girls starting well and finding their feet. Then the team went on to beat Dumpton 1-0, but this time the girls had found their rhythm and were starting to look confident. The final match against Castle Court was a great one with both teams really working hard and creating lots of scoring chances, but Hanford just lots 0-1 in the last few minutes, which was a shame but the yummy lunch softened the blow. The afternoon was superb and ‘our girls’ really fought hard. We beat Walhampton 2-0, then had a really, really tough game against PR where we went down 0-2 but the final game of the day was a brilliant battle against Sanroyd with goals being scored at both ends. It was 2-2 at half time then Hanford took the game away 4-2. The final result was Hanford came second in their pool, then second in their afternoon pool matches against all the other second teams, resulting in a sixth place over all and runners up in the Plate competition.
