The U11A Hockey team went to Bryanston IAPS regional Hockey tournament yesterday (not quite the 'international' tournament the girls thought it was, but still a very prestigious tournament to play for a highly coveted place at the national finals.) It was a beautiful day and the girls were in very good spirits, showing solidarity and teamwork throughout the day. After a rather messy first game against Castle Court, 0-0, their hockey really started to improve and there were moments of complete brilliance from every single girl on the team. They just got better and better, and the passing and tackling began to come together so a 1-1 draw against Sandroyd and a 1-0 win against FSM saw the team into third place in their pool, which really was excellent. This took the team into the quarter finals against Stroud where they played with composure and determination on tiring legs. At full time the score was 0-0, so it went to golden goal, and sadly the ball hit our defending backboard minutes before the final whistle so it was all over for the U11A team, but spirits were really high and they left the pitch smiling and satisfied. The girls should be extremely proud of their achievements and the progress they have made on the hockey pitch this term, their coach certainly is.
