A Joyous Weekend of Fun and Sun

The girls had a ball this weekend making the most of a hot and sunny weekend at Hanford.

We had 50 girls in for this glorious weekend, which kicked off with rounders matches on the lawn for the U9s and U10s against Sherborne prep. It was lovely to see so many parents, family, friends - and older girls - supporting the youngsters, for many of whom it was their first ever rounders match and enjoying the afternoon sunshine. The hall during match tea was so full that it was rather like a summer fête…

Weekends like this are what an outdoor swimming pool is made for and the girls had plenty of opportunity to have a cooling swim. The UVI girls walked to Child Okeford Village Shop to buy ice creams and on Saturday evening there was a barbecue for the whole school. As the sun set, the campers sat around the fire, eating marshmallows and playing wink murder, before getting into their tents - at which point it duly began to rain. Timing is everything.

On Sunday, a number of girls headed off to Sandroyd for the tetrathlon while, after letter-writing and chapel, the Vth form and LVI girls went for an ice cream walk. In the afternoon, there was a trip for the juniors to Kingston Lacy where they were shown round the house and (you may detect a theme here) had an ice cream…

A joyous weekend.
