A very good month in Cross-Country

After a few ‘early morning runs’ to run off the Christmas excesses, we set off on14th January to King’s Park, Bournemouth for the Dorset Cross-Country Championships to compete against 24 other school teams. The U13 girls successfully defended our title as county champions and we retained the trophy. Our U13 girls have been county champions four out of the last five years!

Daisy J h was 8th individually out of 143 runners and qualified to run for Dorset at the South West Championships. Clemmie C-E was 12th and would have qualified but was too young. Our U15 team ran remarkably well, finishing 4th out of twenty-one teams. This race was for Years 8 & 9 girls, so having no Year 9’s, the team’s performance was outstanding.

One week after this success, we retained our title in the Year 8 girls race at the Ken Baily Championships at Bryanston

At the Canford Cross-Country races last week we retained our year 7 girls title with all of our girls finishing in the top ten.

In the Year 6 race, we went one better than last year and won the title. Clemmie was the individual winner and all of our girls finished in the top ten.

The most pleasing thing about this race was that the entire team are Year 5 girls and they are all available to run in the same race next year.

All in all, a very pleasing month!

On Saturday 6th February, Daisy J finished a very creditable 26th in the S.W Cross-Country Championships and the Dorset girls won the team event.
