As Ash Wednesday was during half term we had to have our service of Compline the following Wednesday, on 25th February.
This service has become the perfect setting for the beginning of Lent. It is only for the senior girls as otherwise it would be too late for the juniors.
Tha chapel is lit only with candles and any girl who is leaving the school in the summer also holds a candle.
This year we were very fortunate to have the Reverend Stephen Dunwoody, Hannah’s father, to sing all the responses and to lead us in the service.
Compline is one of the oldest church service and with its wonderful medieval words and chants is so atmospheric.
The choir sang beautifully Pie Jesu and For the beauty of the earth.
We aslo all loved joining in with the Kyrie Eilson.
Thank you to all who took part and especially to Reverend Dunwoody.
