Author, Annabel Claridge, visits Hanford

On Thursday 15th May, the 5th form girls enjoyed a talk and presentation by the children’s author, Annabel Claridge. Annabel, who lives locally in Frome, came to Hanford to tell the girls about her novels based on the adventures of Bo, a black poodle, who can travel through time. There are now three published books about Bo: Storm Dogs, set in the court of King Charles I, Mortal Gods set in Egypt during the time of Cleopatra and Iron Horses, where Bo becomes ‘Buffalo Rabbit, dog of the great Sioux warrior, Crazy Horse.

Annabel explained how she has always been fascinated by history and it is this – and her love for her own poodle, Bo – that gave her the inspiration to write.

Following the talk, the girls were all given the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of one of Annabel’s books. We all thoroughly enjoyed the morning and look forward to a return visit from Annabel next year when she will talk more about her writing and publishing process.
