Tom's Midnight Garden

On March 19th, the girls in the fifth form were treated to a wonderful adaptation of Philippa Pearce’s classic 1950s book for children, Tom’s Midnight Garden, at Poole Lighthouse Theatre.

The performance delighted us all and we were particularly captivated by the atmospheric set, the musical accompaniment and the performances of the two leads playing young Tom and Victorian Hatty, the girl Tom meets when he is mysteriously transported back in time during a holiday visit to his aunt’s.

An old grandfather clock occupies centre stage and the theme of time is central to the story. An intriguing tale of friendship, the inevitable passage of time and the memories that are left behind.
