U12 and U13 North Dorset Champions!

By Luz Wollocombe

8 Hanford girls played 5 schools in the North Dorset Netball Tournament to fight for the North Dorset title for the 3rd year in a row… All girls played extremely well and got very exhausted but enjoyed the experience a lot|!
We had to play 3 schools The Gryphon, Sherborne Girls then Clayesmore we had to score as many goals as possible to get into the semi finals which we did do coming first in our group. We then had to play St. Mary’s Shaftesbury which we won therefore moving on to the finals where we played Leweston School and we managed to win therefore claiming the North Dorset trophy for the 3rd year in a row!
All the schools were very friendly and we enjoyed every match.

Hanford take the double………

Following on from last year's success at the North Dorset Netball Tournament, Hanford are once again champions in both the Under 12 and Under 13 age groups.

Next week they will represent North Dorset at the Dorset County Championships at Bournemouth School for Girls. Hanford will be looking to repeat last year's performance when both teams took the county titles.

Match Reports

On the 25th of February Leweston school hosted the North Dorset Schools Netball Tournament. We arrived with both the U13 trophy and the U12 trophy from winning last year.
There were 2 sections in each of the age groups and we played each team within the section.. The semi-finals were cross overs with the winners from each section playing the runners up from the other group. The winners of that match then played each other in the final.
Our first match was against Sherborne prep. We scored 8 goals in the first half (which were 7 minutes each way) and 6 in the second. Our second match was against Sherborne Girls School who, although it was straight after our first game and we were quite tired, we still beat them 10 to 2. We then played Gillingham who we beat 14 -1.
We had who our section therefore we played Leweston who we beat comfrotably. Surprisingly we then played Sherborne Girls School again as they had won their semi final match against St.Mary’s. We had already beaten them and luckily we beat them again, this time with a greater margin 15 -1. This led us to victory and regaining the U13 trophy.
