The UVIth Visit Athelhampton House

On Tuesday 28th January, the UVIth went on a trip to Athelhampton House in Puddletown, Dorset for a History and Scripture trip.

The house if from the Tudor times. It is listed as one of Great Britain’s most haunted. The Cooke family have lived there for three generations. Clare was very kind in letting us see secret passages where the public isn’t usually allowed. What we found very interesting was the tester beds from the Tudor times. We also adored the artwork shown on display. They were also very considerate lighting the fire in the great hall before we had arrived. It made it so welcoming.

After a tour of the house we went up to their private cinema to watch “To Kill a Mocking Bird”. We all thoroughly enjoyed the film though found it at times really scary, particularly as we had just been talking about ghosts!

We would love to go and visit Athelhampton again.
