Hanford School celebrated European Day of Languages on Wednesday 26th September with a variety of language activities: the kitchen staff added a European taste to the lunch menu with Beef Stroganoff and Tarte au Citron; the lesson in Chapel was read in both Spanish and English and then we all said The Lord’s Prayer together in French; several teachers added some extra languages to their lessons (including singing in French and counting in German, Russian, Italian and Mandarin).
We also had a Quiz in which the whole school participated, where we had to guess the language of 41 posters around the House, which all said “Talk to me!”, but each in a different language or dialect of members of the Council of Europe. Congratulations to the winners and runners-up, who all spent a lot of time and energy on the project throughout the day:

Second Prize Katie Beales and Caro Borton (39/41)
