The 3rd Form girls are the youngest members of the Hanford community. The Form encompasses Years Three and Four and provides an opportunity for individualised learning, as well as an introduction to the life of Hanford and preparation for the years ahead. Most core subjects are taught in the Form room by their Form teacher which provides the opportunity for cross curricular work and a chance to develop close working relationships between the pupil and teacher. In addition to this the girls benefit greatly from the specialist teaching they receive in Science, French, Music, ICT, Physical Education, Art and handwork and in this way they learn to find their way around the school Although some girls join the school in Year Four, many girls stay in the 3rd Form for two years and because of this a two year scheme of work has been developed allowing for the key skills to be taught each year but avoiding repetition of content.
For many girls this will be their first taste of boarding, even if it is for the odd night here and there. Close communication between the boarding house and the Form teacher helps to ease through any apprehensions and difficulties they may experience.
The junior forms enjoy two forty minute Art lessons per week.
